In those early days, there were very few trained and qualified native-speaking English teachers. Although there were many intelligent, well-educated Westerners who could be quickly trained in the basics of English grammar and how to teach from an assigned textbook, it was definitely not the ideal way to conduct language training.

It was because of this situation that James worked long and hard at producing materials that were suitable to be used to train people to be effective English teachers. The result was the TEFL For Target Learner Groups Teacher Training Course, the first and only TEFL Course to be officially aproved by the Thai Ministry of Education. Since that time, Text-And-Talk Academy has trained more than 2,400 English teachers to international standards. A large part of their training concentrates specifically on the problems that Thai students encounter when learning English and how the teacher can deal with those problems.

T&T Training is extremely fortunate to be able to draw from this valuable resource of professionally trained and qualified English teachers. We are able to groom the best graduates from the TEFL Course by giving them experience of many different types of language teaching at our own schools, in universities and at government and private schools. It is only once they have gained the level of experience we demand that we will place them in a corporate environment as a business English teacher.

Our current database hold the details of more than 200 teachers, each with knowledge and experience in areas outside of language teaching that are of benefit to their students and the companies they work for. It is those transferrable skills we look for when we are selecting teachers for our contracts. If our client is a manufacturing company, we will look for a teacher with a background in, or working knowledge of, manufacturing processes that are the same, or at least similar to those of our clients. Similarly, when we have contracts to train the staff at law firms, we will search for a teacher with a legal qualification. This enables our teachers to not only teach their students the English language, but also to be able to speak the language of the industry or market sector that their students work in.

T&T Training has been providing quality language training courses for almost twenty years. Obviously, no company would survive that long in this area unless they were extremely good at what they do.
